| This radio is a 1950 10 tube AM, FM, Phono console made for Montgomery Ward & Co. model number 05wg-2760a. Push-pull 6K6-GT's in the output supply a 12 inch speaker. I purchased this radio in 2007 for $50 at a used furniture store. Before plugging it in I replaced all of the electrolytic capacitors. I cleaned up the chassis and reinstalled the radio in the cabinet. On its first power up both AM and FM worked. I removed the record player and record player pre-amp which originally sat below the radio and have built an enclosed shelf in the record players place. The finish on the cabinet was in near perfect condition I have done nothing but dust it; this console gets a spot in my living room as it is a very nice piece of furniture. |
