| Here is a 5 tube Zenith 5-S-56 console radio from 1936. It originally sold for $59.95. Below are some before and after pictures. It was quite a process to refinish the cabinet. I first stripped the cabinet bare and then sanded it. Next I filled the grain and stained it. After a seal coat I applied toner and four coats of lacquer. I used Mohawk Ultra Classic Toner and Tone Finish Clear Lacquer. I am very impressed with how well it turned out. Now I just have to work on the electronics. |
